The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations agency for human settlements mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities, with the goal of providing adequate shelter for everyone.  Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, UN-Habitat works in over 90 countries.

UN-Habitat promotes transformative change in human settlements through knowledge, policy advice, technical assistance, and collaborative action.  It promotes sustainable urbanization as a positive transformative force for people and communities, reducing inequality, discrimination and poverty.

UN-Habitat works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable communities for all people across the planet.
