The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling companies to set emissions reduction targets based on climate science and aligned with Paris Agreement goals. It defines and promotes best practice in emissions reductions and net-zero targets.
The global initiative helps companies to adopt science-based transition plans covering emissions, set out short-term milestones, ensure effective board-level governance, and link executive compensation to the company's adopted milestones.
SBTi’s net-zero standard provides the framework and tools for setting science-based net-zero targets. to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels.
