PHIUS (Passive House Institute US) is a US non-profit organization that administers the PHIUS+ 2015 standard and adopting passive building principles for single-family, multifamily, and commercial construction to achieve net-zero emissions targets. Based in Chicago, IL, PHIUS is committed to making high-performance passive building the mainstream market standard.
PHIUS certifies and quality assures passive buildings, maintains the PHIUS+ climate-specific passive building standard, trains and certifies professionals, and conducts research to advance high-performance building. Buildings meeting the PHIUS+ standard use 40%-60% less energy for space conditioning than conventional buildings.
PHIUS+ buildings provide superior indoor air quality and a quiet, comfortable indoor environment.
