openPetition is a free nonprofit platform where citizens can make public an issue of common concern, organize themselves, and enter into dialog with politicians. openPetition aims to provide citizens the right to petition online and bring about digital democracy throughout the EU and the rest of Europe.
Petitions are undertaken to bring about change locally, regionally, nationally and in the EU. Participatory democracy is a process in which individuals, NGOs and civil society at large are involved in the conduct of public affairs at all levels.
openPetition is a member of various initiatives, networks and alliances that promote participatory democracy.
