The International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD) is a global network that aims to improve the quality of the democracy of local governments. Located in Barcelona, Spain, IOPD is hosted by the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLA).
OIPD facilitates the creation of work groups to collaborate on participatory democracy at the local level. It is open to all communities, research centers and other organizations that are interested in learning about, exchanging knowledge, and applying experience in participatory democracy.
IOPD's mission is to improve the quality of the democracy of local governments worldwide through citizen participation. It is a benchmark space for information on participatory democracy in the world and citizens’ initiatives.
