The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a supranational financial institution that offers investment, advisory, and asset management services to encourage private-sector development in less developed countries.  It is a member of the World Bank Group and headquartered in Washington, D.C.

As the World Banks's private-sector arm, it advances economic development by investing in for-profit commercial projects.  The IFC focuses on a set of development goals and projects aimed at reducing poverty and promoting sustainable development, especially for the poor and vulnerable.

The IFC creates new markets, mobilizes other investors, and shares expertise, thereby creating jobs and raising living standards.
