Greenpeace is an independent global NGO and campaigning network comprising 26 independent national/regional organizations in over 55 countries and a coordinating body, Greenpeace International.  Its goal is to ensure the ability of the Earth to nurture life in all its diversity.

The highly visible and controversial international environmental organization uses direct action, lobbying, research, and “ecotage” to achieve its goals.  Its campaigns focuses on such worldwide environmental issues as climate change, deforestation, overfishing, commercial whaling, genetic engineering, and anti-nuclear issues.

Greenpeace does not accept funding from governments, corporations or political parties, relying instead on individual supporters and foundation grants.
