Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) is a not-for-profit industry association that promotes green building – sustainability in the built environment – and developed the Green Star rating and certification system for buildings and communities. Headquartered in Sydney, GBCA rates the sustainability of new builds and fit-outs as well as communities throughout Australia.
GBCA promotes green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations. It educates industry, government practitioners and decision-makers and advocates policies and programs that support its vision and purpose.
GBCA was one of the eight national green building councils that helped found the World Green Building Council.
