The European Forest Institute (EFI) is an international, intergovernmental organization established by the European states that advocates forest research and provides forest-related knowledge. Headquartered in Joensuu, Finland, it has 29 member countries and around 120 member organizations from 38 different countries.
The EFI facilitates and stimulates forest-related networking and promotes the dissemination of unbiased and policy-relevant information on forests and forestry. The organization conducts research and advocates for the use of scientifically sound information as a basis for forest policies.
The EFI provides enhanced policy support on issues related to forests for decision-takers and policymakers in improving land use governance.
