The Building Research Establishment (BRE) is a British profit-for-purpose organization that owns BREEAM. BREEAM is the longest established science-based suite of validation and certification systems for a sustainable built environment used in more than 70 countries.

Its third-party certified standards help improve asset performance at every stage of building development – from design through construction, to use and refurbishment.
