Boston College (BC) is a private Jesuit research university in Chestnut Hill, MA, located six miles (10 km) west of downtown Boston, MA.  The university has more than 9,300 full-time undergraduates and nearly 5,000 graduate students.

The research university offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees through its eight colleges and schools.

Founded in 1863, more than three decades after its initial inception, the university offers a liberal arts curriculum with a distinct emphasis on formative education and service to others in accordance with its Jesuit heritage.

The mission driving the work of BC faculty and students is to enhance the human condition, expand the human imagination, and make the world more just through teaching, research, and service.
