Our communities are threatened by the continued destruction of the local environment and biosphere through unsustainable and irresponsible development of land and properties.   The built environment – buildings and infrastructure – accounts for nearly 50% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions and rapid, uncontrolled urban sprawl is a major concern.

To limit global warming to 2°C, all those involved in the development of our living spaces are called upon to ensure that buildings and infrastructure are developed to minimize CO2 emissions and protect the ecosystem – land, plants and natural habitat – as much as possible.

We citizens call on our government officials and politicians at the local, regional and national levels to fulfill their legal, political, ethical and moral obligation to protect us and our communities from science-based threats and further damage to the environment.  This must be addressed immediately by our government authorities and made mandatory for further development of the built environment – before it is too late!
