The investment in sustainable development and climate actions is at the center of the SDG agenda and climate negotiations. However, there are many obstacles to realizing the potential synergies between the SDGs and climate action. The financing gap to achieve the global climate target of 1.5°C by 2030 set out in the Paris Agreement is huge and the financial resources to achieve the urgent impact must be raised and invested on a much larger scale. This report is about the quantity and quality of the financial resources and a new financial system required to enable both SDG development and climate actions. It argues that investing in synergistic development and climate actions can realize greater efficiencies and result in a greater impact such that fewer financial resources are needed.
