Investing in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) involves deploying investment capital in a way that has a positive impact on society and the environment while aligning the investments with the United Nations' 17 SDGs.  Sustainable Development Investing (SDI) goes beyond traditional financial returns and seeks to create social and environmental value while generating financial returns.  The focus on shaping SDG outcomes requires the analysis of financially material ESG issues for individual investees, alongside a systems-level analysis of key societal and environmental outcomes.  The PRI proposes a five-part framework for investors who want to understand the real-world outcomes of their investments and invest in sustanable development to shape those outcomes in line with the SDGs.
